Stellenbeschrieb

Kita Wunderkind is a bilingual daycare located in Zürich-Enge, just behind Swiss Life, a two-minute walk from Lake Zurich.

We are a state-approved childcare centre providing a bilingual German-English environment (60/40) for children from approximately 3 months of age until kindergarten entry. Children are cared for in age-appropriate groups and supported according to our own pedagogical concept, with a strong focus on individual development, language, independence, social-emotional learning, creativity and learning through everyday experiences.

Job Description:

We are looking to hire a part time/full-time English Assistant Preschool Teacher (only NATIVE English-speaker) for our pre-k group.

Essential requirements:

For the 60% part-time position, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are mandatory working days. Candidates applying for the part-time position must therefore be available on all three days.

Your Responsibilities

As part of our Pre-K team, you will actively contribute to the children's daily educational experience and support the Group Leader and pedagogical team in providing a safe, stimulating and well-structured environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and accompanying children aged approximately 3–5 throughout their daily routine
  • Communicating with the children consistently in English and actively supporting their English-language development through natural everyday interaction
  • Participating in and independently contributing to age-appropriate educational activities, projects, creative activities, stories, songs and learning experiences
  • Supporting children's social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical development
  • Encouraging independence, self-confidence and age-appropriate responsibility
  • Supporting children during meals, hygiene routines, transitions, rest periods and other everyday situations
  • Participating in outdoor activities, walks, excursions and movement activities
  • Reading regularly with the children and actively promoting language and early literacy
  • Observing children's individual needs, interests and development and sharing relevant observations with the pedagogical team
  • Helping to prepare and maintain an organised, stimulating and child-friendly group environment
  • Working closely and professionally with the Group Leader, Kita Management and the wider educational team
  • Following our pedagogical concept, safeguarding standards, hygiene procedures and internal policies
  • Contributing proactively to team meetings, planning and the continuous development of the group

Essential Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • is a native English speaker / has English as their mother tongue
  • genuinely enjoys working with and educating children aged 3–5 years
  • is reliable, responsible, punctual and emotionally mature
  • demonstrates a strong work ethic and personal initiative
  • is attentive and able to recognise and respond appropriately to children's individual needs
  • is comfortable working actively within a group and taking responsibility
  • is warm and caring while also being able to provide children with clear boundaries and structure
  • works well within a multicultural and bilingual team
  • is open to feedback and interested in continuous professional development
  • is interested in a long-term collaboration
  • is physically comfortable participating in an active Kita day, including outdoor activities and excursions

Previous professional experience in a Kita, preschool, nursery, kindergarten or another early-childhood setting is strongly preferred.

What We Offer

We offer a professional and international working environment in a well-established bilingual Kita in central Zürich. You will become part of a structured pedagogical team and have the opportunity to contribute actively to the children's educational programme while developing your experience in early childhood education.

We value reliability, professionalism, initiative, respectful communication, teamwork and genuine engagement with children and are particularly interested in candidates looking to become a stable, long-term member of our team.

How to Apply

Please send us your complete application by email, including:

  • CV with photo
  • relevant diplomas and certificates
  • employment certificates / reference letters
  • any additional documentation relevant to your experience in childcare or education

Please also indicate whether you are applying for the 60% or 80% position, your earliest possible starting date, and confirm your availability for the required working days.

We look forward to receiving applications from candidates who are genuinely passionate about early childhood education and interested in becoming part of the Kita Wunderkind team.
